The Chairman and CEO, PE Energy, Mr. Daere Akobo met with the Group Managing Director of NNPC (Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation), Dr. Maikanti Baru at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2018 in Dubai. ADIPEC 2018, is one of the world’s leading oil and gas conferences and exhibitions. The four-day event, which started on Monday, November 12, 2018, and is scheduled to end November 15, 2018, hosts more than 10,000 delegates, 2,200 exhibiting firms, and about 40 national oil companies annually.
Profit maximization had been the focus of previous ADIPEC events, following the fall off oil prices. National oil companies now prioritize the downstream segment of their energy value chains as much as the upstream. This year, there is an increased focus on how digitalization, particularly automation and AI, can help national and international oil companies already operating on lean budgets, maximize their efficiencies, upstream, midstream and downstream.
During the opening keynote address, H.E. Dr. Al Jaber said that the world is on the verge of an era of unprecedented prosperity. According to him, this will be driven by rapid advances in technology and a global middle class, which will grow to five billion people by 2030, creating greater demand for energy and products derived from oil and gas.
