PE Energy Limited is pleased to announce its partnership on Research and Development (R&D) with the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Imo State, Nigeria.
On Friday, 27th November 2020, the Vice Chancellor of the University, ably represented by Professor B.C Anusionwu (Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Development and Innovation ) and his team comprising of Dr. Uchenna Mbamara and Dr. Kelvin Igwilo, visited PE Energy Centre of Excellence facility in Port Harcourt to commemorate the R&D partnership between PE Energy and the University (FUTO).
The delegation was received by the Chairman, Engr. Daere Akobo (F.IoD), the management and staff of PE Energy Limited. After attending a company presentation by the PE Energy Chairman, as well as the PE Energy Manager for the Water and Process Technologies Division, Mr. Chidi Ogbulu, the delegation was taken on a tour of the PE Centre of Excellence facility in Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt.
PE Energy and FUTO have signed a strategic partnership agreement on research and development in drilling/completion fluids and production chemicals material and additives substitution, using local raw materials. FUTO operates a research center known as the Center of Excellence on Material Substitution (CEMS) which is duly accredited by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) as a foremost R&D cluster for production chemicals, drilling fluids/chemicals and corrosion inhibitors.
The partnership will be anchored on the triple helix program, a model entailing a tripartite collaboration on R&D among the academia, government and the industry, in line with the local content aspiration on research, development and innovation. The multiple benefits of this initiative are designed to trickle down to domestication, cost optimization and overall economic growth.
