Port Harcourt, Nigeria – PE Energy Limited (PEEL), a leading Nigerian automation and system integration company, organized a facility tour & foundation laying ceremony for the PE Center of Excellence (CoE). The ceremony took place on Monday, the 25th of November 2019 at the facility complex in Trans-Amadi Industrial layout, Port Harcourt, Rivers, Nigeria. PEEL had the privilege of hosting the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote as the Special Guest of Honor.
The facility, which is the administrative and industrial work area of PE Energy Limited, is on track to become a state of art best vendor agnostic value creation and systems integration center in Africa. The PE Center of Excellence is set to be launched in 2020, and has a total site area of 10, 820 square meters. It will house an Automation & Control Center, an Electrical & Instrumentation Center, a Metering Assembly & Calibration Center, a Valve Assembly & Automation Center, an Overhaul & Recertification Center, a Consultancy & Training workshop, an Administrative Building, and a Utility area.
The facility will further enhance PEEL’s brand promise of delivering world class engineered solutions in Automation and Control, High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS) solutions, Valves Assembling and Automation, Metering Skids Assembly and Calibration, Process and Measurement Solutions, Integrated Services; as well as domain solutions in Water & Wastewater (Water & Process Treatment | Wastewater & Reuse Options), Exploration, Power and Turbine Solutions.
The special guest of honor, Engr. Simbi Wabote, The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), noted in his remarks that the NCDMB is committed to local content development and reducing dependence on foreign goods. According to him, “Instrumentation Control and Automation is a key area of interest to the Board and has a very wide application beyond the oil and gas industry. When completed and fully operational, the center would be utilized as a Center of Excellence for Human Capacity Development in Instrumentation Control and Automation”.
Engr. Simbi Wabote commended PE Energy limited for its contribution to the growth of the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector and the growth of the Nigerian Content and noted that in a bid to sustain such investments in the country’s oil and gas industry, there will be prohibitions on importation of such materials into the country once the CoE facility is up and running.
He also sought for more support from other international oil and servicing companies in the development of the facility for it to become a hub for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
Speaking at the event, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), PE Energy Limited, Mr. Daere Akobo said “We will be handling some of the most complex valves in the world, such as High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS), which house Valves, Logic Solvers, Pressure Transmitters, and other sensory devices. We plan to integrate that in the country. We will be carrying out Integration on Process Equipment; we will be automating the entire value chain of metering such as Gas Chromatography, Analyzer Systems, Analyzer House, and all the supervisory Control Systems in Energy Measurement”. He applauded the NCDMB for its strategic implementation of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act 2010.
About NCDMB – The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) was established by the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act which came into effect on April 22, 2010. The NOGIC JQS was created in line with section 55 of the NOGIC Act which states that the Board shall establish, maintain and operate a joint qualification system (JQS) in consultation with industry stakeholders which shall be administered in accordance with provisions set out in the regulations to be made by the Minister in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
The mission and goal of the NCDMB is to promote the development and utilization of in-country capacities for the industrialization of Nigeria through the effective implementation of the Nigerian Content Act.
